For more than 20 years now Charlotte has been home to me and my family. Had chances to leave – didn’t want to! Simple as that and the decision was never really that hard to begin with! After taking part in various sports reporting projects over recent years I am thrilled to be back in the saddle and riding with my FOX46 team on a nightly basis.
There is a common theme here with my new team. We don’t consider what we do to be work. I feel blessed to being doing what I love and have a tremendous passion for sports journalism and my wife says I’m really, really good at running my mouth!! I am thoroughly enjoying being able to take advantage of my two decades on the Charlotte sports scene and provide our viewers with a perspective only experience can bring.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Karen, for 28 years and we absolutely adore our two dogs, Thor and Molly. I am a farm-boy at heart and am the neighborhood horticulturist – I attack my vegetable garden and greenhouse with nearly the same vigor as I do my sportscasts.
I grew up in Southwestern New York – as far away from NYC as you can get – on a dairy farm. That is why I don’t call this work. I have thrown plenty of hay bales and shoveled plenty of “you know what” growing up but wouldn’t have traded it for the world.
Reporting on sporting events and doing unique feature stories is what I have wanted to do since I was a sophomore in high school. I may have the grayest hair in our newsroom but I guarantee you I’m the biggest kid here!
