Investigative reporter Matt Grant joined FOX 46 Charlotte in September 2017.
Matt has been described as a “champion for taxpayers” and his aggressive reporting has earned him three Emmys and an Edward R. Murrow award. Since coming to Charlotte, Matt reporting has led to the arrest of shady business owners, launched several state investigations and sparked a Congressional inquiry into the Federal Air Marshal Service.
Before joining FOX 46, Matt Grant worked as a reporter for WESH in Orlando, FOX 4 in Ft. Myers, Florida, KRCG in Columbia, Missouri. His hard-hitting investigations have uncovered corruption and wrongdoing and sparked change across Florida. Key exposés include: “sub-standard” care and questionable surveillance practices at a Florida Veterans Administration Hospital; suspect use of more than a million dollars of taxpayer “stimulus money” and secret pay raises and dubious practices at a state college. The latter investigation spanned two years and resulted in the firing of the school’s president and vice-president and the renaming of the college after Matt exposed nursing students were lied to about their program’s lack of accreditation.
Originally from Long Island, NY, Matt got his start in broadcast journalism as an assignment desk editor for News 12 The Bronx. He holds a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Political Science from Marist College. He is also a proud member of Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE), a non-profit organization dedicated to investigative journalism.
Matt has been a proud volunteer and supporter of the Special Olympics. When he’s not digging for the next story, he enjoys reading, traveling and hiking.
