Digital Journalist / Anchor
WJZY-TV, the FOX O&O in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Multimedia Journalist, with anchoring skills. We need the total MMJ package: someone who can do their own hard news and breaking news morning live shots 3 days a week. You will need to be quick on your feet with a desire to beat the other stations each and every day. This Digital Journalist also co-anchors and helps write a Saturday and Sunday morning news show that is a mix of hard news and lifestyle interviews. FOX46 is a dynamic newsroom; part of the “newsroom of the future” movement. You will be working with 21st century newsgathering technology, operating as a self-contained and mobile content generator. This Digital Journalist will have the opportunity to get attention for the right reasons and to Get Results for the community. A minimum of 3 years’ experience reporting news and 2 year anchoring is required. Excellent communication and writing and grammar skills are required for both the broadcast and digital platforms. Assignment Desk Editor
WJZY, The FOX Owned & Operated duopoly in Charlotte, NC is looking for an Assignment Editor responsible for gathering story info from various news sources and determining the newsworthiness. The ideal candidate will make decisions on what stories to cover and assign/dispatch crews. Must be aggressive and thorough in responding to breaking news. Research and select news stories through multiple sources including: news wires, websites, social media, newspapers, scanners and email. The candidate will be responsible for daily communication with police and government officials and agencies. The incumbent must develop reliable sources to help in obtaining, and confirming information for newscasts. Secure and organize elements for newscasts such as electronic audio and video files, photos and documents. Must have broad working knowledge of online databases, as well as broad working knowledge of court and police procedures. Write and publish stories for fox46charlotte.com and consistently publish to social media channels. Coordinate, dispatch and communicate with crews to planned and breaking news events. Work closely with reporters, producers and managers to develop stories and story ideas. Answer viewer calls and emails and speak with community contacts. Perform other duties as assigned. College degree preferred. A minimum of three years’ experience in TV news, including assignment desk experience preferred. Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects. Must demonstrate outstanding news judgment and good news writing skills. Must be able to deal effectively with people, work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines. Strong working knowledge of the technical aspects of television news production required, including digital and web-based newsgathering tools. Executive Producer of Special Projects
FOX 46 Charlotte WJZY is looking for a leader/motivator/idea machine/social media addict to be our Executive Producer of Special Programs.
Duties include producing sports and news specials that may be regularly scheduled, or in a breaking news situation. Specials may be live or taped; in studio or on location. Some fill-in news producing may be included. Social media proficiency and leadership is required. Editing experience required and videography experience is helpful.

This journalist will be a breaking news anchor who is able to write, edit and post breaking news on-the-fly during our dynamic morning show. The best candidate will also be a one-man-band. Content producer with strong web and social media focus. Should live and breathe online news and be an expert on a variety of digital and social media platforms. Will gather news from social media sources and identify trending topics, but also create content that will itself become trending. Produces stories using text, photos, and video. Needs to be an excellent storyteller and writer, with strong knowledge of AP style and a zero-tolerance policy for typos. Non-linear video editing skills and experience a must. Be able to work in a team and liaison with newsroom staff to ensure complete social media and web dominance. Bachelor’s degree required, plus two to three years of web production management experience. Solid understanding of web/mobile standards, design, and usability, along with an eye for detail. Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop.
Photojournalist must have an eye to shoot, edit and gather sound from newsworthy events, locations or people for use in newscasts by performing the following duties: Shoots and edits breaking stories, live shots and other news stories as assigned. Occasionally writes packages and/or assembles natural sound packages. Gathers news in the field independently. Assist in gathering and posting stories on-line and to air.
Must have the ability to visually tell compelling stories. Operates video camera and audio equipment creatively in diverse conditions and at times under extreme deadlines. Operates all live technology i.e. Live U, KA trucks, etc. Drives and operates company vehicles in a safe and defensive manner. This includes driving in heavy metropolitan traffic, at night and in bad weather. Edits videotape for playback for air. Operates microwave trucks. Maintains vehicle and news gathering equipment properly.
Assist with newscasts outside the normal work schedule at time of severe weather conditions or breaking news. Meets all scheduling and broadcast deadlines. Must be involved in Social Media. Responsible for any and all equipment issued by FOX. Supports Local News Service as assigned. Regular attendance is required. Has ability to work a flexible schedule. Maintenance Engineer/Digital Systems
WJZY and WMYT, Fox O&O serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking a Maintenance Engineer / Digital Systems. We are adding to our team of digital engineers for Morning News Expansion.
The Maintenance Engineer will manage the technical operations of this Fox O&O duopoly in accordance with FCC, OSHA, and Corporate Engineering Standards and practices that meets SMPTE/IEEE and ATSC and other applicable specifications. In addition to maintenance duties for Engineering, this employee will install and turn up new technologies and provide necessary operator training to match department workflow. As needed this position supports repair and maintenance of the facility.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills. In depth knowledge of broadcast technical operations including IP based equipment. Extensive knowledge and experience with hardware, software, and multiple OS of servers and PC’s is required. Ability to work with any manufacturer on applications. Basic understanding of networking devices on multiple LANs and connecting to WANS is a plus. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to understand and implement written procedures and directives a current working knowledge of IT and broadcast equipment, an understanding of multiple formats of video and transport streams. A clear working knowledge of multiple digital media formats and basics of transcoding. Ability to maintain satellite operations. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships. Maintain confidentiality regarding company information.
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent broadcast experience.
