Associate Producer (Full-Time Regular)
Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY and WMYT, the Fox Owned & Operated television station serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking a quick-thinking Associate Producer / Editor. The ideal candidate will write and edit stories for news programs. Select appropriate video and sound for stories. Assist anchors, reporters and producers in preparing stories for broadcast and the web. Work with the assignment desk in gathering information. Produce newscasts as needed under management supervision. Strong creative writing skills and editorial judgment are a must. Working knowledge of newsroom computer systems, the Internet, graphic and production equipment is desirable. Must work well under deadline pressure. Ability to juggle packages and VO-SOTS along with special projects in a high-pressure news environment. Experience with digital non-linear software is a must; knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 is a plus. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Content Management systems like BitCentral and should be willing and able to pick up a camera and shoot news when needed. Local Sales Manager (Full-Time Regular)
Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY/WMYT, the FOX Owned & Operated television stations servicing the Charlotte, NC region, is looking for a Local Sales Manager. The LSM will lead an experienced sales team to exceed revenue and share goals across platforms. We’re looking for a self-motivated, disciplined and organized strategic manager. Ideal candidate is a problem solver who identifies and maximizes sales opportunities. Must have strong communication skills and work cohesively with other managers in sales and all departments in the station.

Local Sales Assistant (Full-time Regular)

The ideal candidate will maintain account files; process orders, order revisions, and order pre-clearance. Research and resolve discrepancies; post invoiced times to ensure rating point delivery; utilize in-house Wide Orbit Traffic system; execute contracts and invoices to clients and account executives; distribute spot times and placement to clients; relay tapes and instructions to station Traffic department; act as liaison between clients and account executives; assist Sales Director. Candidate must have excellent organizational and verbal skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must possess the ability to perform in a highly charged sales environment is essential. VP of Engineering (Full-Time Regular)
Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY and WMYT, the Fox Owned & Operated television station serving the Charlotte, NC region is seeking a Vice President of Engineering. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining all systems to ensure fault tolerant and error free operations of stations’ broadcast equipment including daily oversight of local Hub/Spoke technology to produce efficient, flawless TV Station operations. Must effectively manage engineering, master control, production, news technical, facilities, security, MEP systems and tower/transmitter. Must develop and implement strategic, current and long range technical and technological operation plans, prepare departmental expense budgets and oversee the preparation of both current and future capital plans. Develop and maintain station’s disaster response plan. Must possess the ability to establish procedures and standards for operation and maintenance of equipment and studio operations. Responsible for station compliance with FCC, OSHA and FAA regulations. Ideal candidate must possess extensive knowledge of all broadcast systems, government regulations and industry standards to ensure the television stations’ technical compliance. Must have significant technical expertise in the planning implementation and maintenance of television station and RF facilities. Understanding of digital and automation technology is essential. Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management through excellent verbal and written communication. Must possess strong attention to detail, accuracy and strong organization skills. Must have the ability to direct and motivate the technical staff and work well with all station departments. Knowledge of ELC and iTX environments is a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in electronics/electrical engineering preferred and a minimum of ten (10) years broadcast engineering management experience required. SBE certification is preferred. Proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint software a must.
Chief Meteorologist (Full-Time Regular)
Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY, the Fox Owned and Operated television station in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Chief Meteorologist. This position reports to the VP, News Director. Oversees the daily operations of the weather department by performing the following duties: Must have experience in severe weather coverage and knowledge of industry-standard broadcast weather computer and radar systems. Must be able to sustain severe weather coverage, esp. during tornado warnings. Must be a great communicator and tell a compelling weather story especially on days when the weather is quiet. Must demonstrate experience in use of alert systems to disseminate weather information across multiple platforms. Must excel in social media and be willing and able to win weather coverage versus other local meteorologists on social platforms. Must have ability to shoot, edit and report stories as well as do traditional weathercasts. Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a broadcast meteorologist preferred. Performs the essential duties and responsibilities of a weather anchor for assigned newscasts. Schedules weather personnel. Works with vendors and suppliers to keep weather equipment fully functional and up to date. Prepares and implements a severe weather plan. Establishes a philosophy for the best delivery of weather information to the public. Assists with the maintenance of story boxes in the newsroom computer system including updating files and noting possible story ideas. Reviews newscasts to ensure objectives are attained. Meets all scheduling and broadcast deadlines. Attends and participates in all scheduled meetings. Responsible for any and all equipment issued by FOX. Assists News Director with preparation of weather staff performance appraisals. Must be certified as a Meteorologist. Must be flexible and able to work overtime, holidays and varied hours required. Executive Producer (Full-Time)
Edward R Murrow Award Winning Broadcaster WJZY, the FOX O&O in Charlotte, NC is looking for a talented and visionary Executive Producer. The Executive Producer will be responsible for managing our 10 o’clock newscast in a highly-competitive late news environment. The priorities are to: Win Weather, breaking news and social media while emphasizing the Getting Results brand. Besides managing the show stacking, grammar, spelling, writing and graphics for the on-air presentation, you will also partner with HR to recruit, train and manage producers and associate producers. The night side EP will also manage and coach MMJs on their broadcast and digital contributions. You will be expected to line produce on a fill-in basis. The ideal candidate will bring great ideas every day and know how to use varied technologies and be creative with graphics and presentation styles. Must have the ability to be a newsroom leader with good organization and interpersonal skills. Education: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with emphasis on journalism and/or communications. Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience producing on a local or national news broadcast preferred. Management experience preferred but not required.
News Producer (Full-Time)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily production of newscast (s) to include: setting up the story, interviews, writing, graphic coordination and social media posting. Must become very knowledgeable about the Charlotte region and develop meaningful contacts. Become fluent with the Fox 46 news brand and strive for excellence in headline writing skills. Research stories online and on telephone with appropriate sources and contacts. Level of performance requires a superior command of grammar and broadcast news-writing style. Aggressively participates in covering breaking news in and out of newscasts. Coordinate with web/social team to coordinate coverage for online and on-air. Log and edit video for inclusion on scripts. Accountable for editorial decisions and/or changes made in the control room while the newscast is on the air. Communicates via IFB to provide producer direction and talent instruction to crews in the field and in studio. Collaborate with Executive Producer prior to air and during newscast about changes. Partner with newscast director before, during and after newscast to accomplish creative and clean production. Work with reporters to develop story scripts. Edits reporter scripts and provides feedback. Assign voice overs and VO-SOTs to reporters and anchors. Work with on-air staff by phone and in person to assist with story development and/or story support. Supervise and oversee the writers assigned to the shift. Assign writing ideas to APs. Edit AP scripts and provide feedback. Maintain open communication with News Director, the news management team and all station personnel to efficiently, respectfully and professionally complete news assignments. Participates in news meetings to provide story and production ideas for any and all newscasts. Participate in special projects and programming. Available to work outside of scheduled hours. Constantly uses verbal, audible, and visual abilities to perform essential functions. Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Sits for extended period of time in order to accomplish essential duties. Attend and participate in any company training seminars, meetings or other attendance required events. Comply with all Station and Department policies, procedures and guidelines related activities. Occasionally bends stoops and crouches to arrange copy/script paper for work related functions. Constantly operates PC to complete required news items and related materials. Must possess a minimum of 2 years’ television news writing and producing experience. Bachelor’s Degree in journalism or equivalent is required. iNews and Adobe Premiere Pro experience preferred. Must possess excellent news judgment. Knowledge of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg County area is preferred. Dependability, strong writing skills and accuracy are crucial.
It is an essential part of all newsroom employees to be willing to adjust hours to meet the fluctuating demands of a news team in a competitive market. If special events fall on the employee’s day off he/she may be required to participate, if requested. Varied hours may also be required based on the needs of the department. From time to time may be required to produce newscasts to help cover sick/vacation time of others. As part of the news team, holidays that fall Monday through Friday will be worked, time-off requests are approved by management. No vacations will be approved one week prior and during television-rating periods.
