CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - A 12-year-old girl- Cierra Mitchell- has died after a crash involving a Go Kart Thursday night.
The crash occurred just before 9:00 p.m. at the intersection of Greene Street and the 3700 block of West Sugar Creek Road.
Police said Cierra who was driving the Go Kart did not stop at a stop sign. She was then hit by a car and thrown from the Go Kart and hit by another vehicle, according to police and she was not wearing a helmet.
Cierra's father, Robert Bootsy Mitchell, thanks all those who prayed for his family while Cierra was in the hospital.
Robert wrote on his Facebook page: "To my family, friends,and all my prayer warriors, I want to thank you for all of your prayers. I need one more big prayer from you all. As we prepare to send Cierra home to our father, please pray for her spirit to have safe journey. Please pray for her family Coral, Desi and Shaianne, to give them peace in the fact that she is no longer suffering, and she home in the arms of our lord. Pray for their strength to keep pushing on and know Cierra is watching over them. I love you all for being here to support us through this difficult time in our lives."
Cierra was pronounced deceased at CMC on Saturday at 5:30 a.m.

Earlier, FOX 46 Charlotte spoke to Cierra's mother who told us Cierra did stop at the stop sign and she was the only one with her daughter when it happened.
At the time, Cierra's father had posted a picture of his daughter in the hospital to Facebook along with a status requesting prayers.
No one has been charged in the crash and it is under investigation.
