GASTONIA, NC (WJZY) - FOX 46 Charlotte took action and is getting results for a Gastonia couple who lost everything after their home caught fire Sunday.

The large fire damaged an apartment complex in Gastonia around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, May 15.
Firefighters with the Gastonia Fire Department were called to The Patriots Apartments located at 1280 Union Road. Upon arrival, they saw smoke and flames coming from the rear of the of the three-story apartment building.
Once all residents were evacuated, firefighters decided to fight the fire from the exterior considering the amount of fire present and the fact the building had been evacuated.
The blaze was extinguished in about 30 minutes.
The building housed a total of 12 apartment units, with five units sustaining heavy damage to the fire and seven units receiving some smoke and water damage.
Officials said no one was hurt. The Gaston County Chapter of the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
The Gastonia Fire Department Investigations Task Force is investigating.
