Man shot, killed after standoff in Chesterfield Co.

- The Florence County Sheriff's Office is investigating a standoff that led to an officer-involved fatal shooting on Westfield Creek Church Road outside of Chesterfield, S.C. on Saturday night.

Deputies were called to the scene around 9:15 p.m. where a suspect, who has not yet been identified, had barricaded himself inside a home and began shooting at officers. Immediately, Chesterfield Co. Sheriff's Office SWAT team and SLED SWAT team came to assist the deputies.

The suspect continued to fire numerous times at officers over the course of the standoff, which lasted several hours.

Around noon Sunday, the suspect came out of the home and challenged law enforcement officials with a gun. Officers then fired back, killing the suspect.

A Chesterfield County EMS unit transported the suspect to an area hospital where he later died.
