DENVER, NC (WJZY) - East Lincoln firefighter Joshua Warren who collapsed and died while exercising last Thursday will be laid to rest Tuesday morning at 11 a.m.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. at East Lincoln Middle School. Warren, 34, was rushed to CHS-Lincoln Medical Center with serious injuries and later died.
A formal firefighter processional for Warren took place at 4 p.m. Monday, June 20. The procession traveled south on NC Highway 16 Business from the Good Samaritan Funeral Home to Waterside Crossing Boulevard. From there, Warren's body was driven through the East Lincoln Fire Station and then returned back to Westport Baptist Church for the visitation and funeral.
The visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. at Westport Baptist Church on Monday.
The funeral will be held at Westport Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21. Burial will follow in the church graveyard attached to the church property.
Warren was an active member of East Lincoln Fire Department since 2013. In addition, he worked part-time as a firefighter for both the Alexis Fire Department and Lucia-Riverbend Fire Department. He leaves behind a wife and two children, a boy, age 8 and a girl, age 4.
