CMPD searching for driver involved in east Charlotte shooting

- Two people crashed a car and fled after a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer asked them to leave a private lot on Sunday.

The incident happened at 2:32 a.m. on Independence Boulevard at Sharon Amity Road.

When the officer asked the suspects to leave the lot, they became upset. The passenger shot a handgun up into the air and then they took off. Soon after, the driver wrecked the car, causing it to overturn. Both suspects were okay and ran from the car.

Police later found the vehicle. They also found Cristian Flores, who did the shooting along with two guns. CMPD is still searching for the driver.

Flores has been charged with resist/obstruct/delay officer and shooting in the city limits.

No shots were fired at any officer nor were any guns pointed in an officer's direction.
