Huntersville cuts funding for North Mecklenburg Rescue Squad

- The North Mecklenburg Rescue squad will be forced to close its doors after 58 years of service. 

The Town of Huntersville has declined to continue funding for the organization. 

The rescue squad's final day of service will be Aug. 1 of next year. The Squad will stop responding to medical and rescue calls in Huntersville at that point in time. 

North Meck Rescue runs approximately 2800 first responder calls for service annually with numbers continually rising. These calls include medical emergencies, traffic accidents and rescue-related situations.

North Meck Rescue assisted over 175,000 patients during the 58 years of service provided to the citizens of Northern Mecklenburg County.
