US airstrike targets notorious ISIS militant 'Jihadi John'

The Pentagon said late Thursday it had launched an airstrike in Syria targeting 'Jihadi John', a British national seen in videos depicting the beheading of hostages held by ISIS.

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the airstrike in Raqqa targeted Mohamed Emwazi. Cook said it was unclear whether Emwazi died in the airstrike.

Emwazi is seen in the videos showing the killings of journalists Steve Sotloff and James Foley, U.S. aid worker Abdul-Rahman Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto, and a number of other hostages.
