7 year old shot, killed in double homicide in Salisbury

A 7-year-old child was one of three people involved in two shootings that happened early Sunday in two separate locations in Salisbury.
Police were called around 1:30 a.m. to the parking lot of the Firewater Restaurant and Lounge, 122 Avalon Dr., where they found 22-year-old Sharod Raheen Mathis suffering from a gunshot wound. 
Mathis was taken by private car to Novant Health Rowan Regional Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. 
Around 4:30 a.m. Salisbury Police, Fire and EMS were called to 200 Harrel Street where two people were shot. A 56-year-old was shot in the leg and was transported to the hospital. A 7 year old was also shot but was found dead on scene, according to authorities. 
Two people died from the shootings. One remains in the hospital. 
Salisbury Police Department and State Bureau of Investigations are investigating the events surrounding the shootings.
