Fire crews investigating Gastonia house fire

GASTONIA - Firefighters with the Gastonia Fire Department extinguished a house fire at 104 S. Ransom Street in Gastonia at 1:19 p.m. Feb. 7.

Crews say they encountered heavy fire throughout the home that was engulfed with smoke and flames, but were able to extinguish it in about 15 minutes.

The residents of the home escaped the burning house. One person suffered minor smoke inhalation injuries but was not transported to the hospital.

Authorities say a total of 20 personnel and five apparatus were on scene and an estimated $45,000 in damages was caused by the fire.

The Gastonia Fire Department's Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
