It's pretty tricky getting out of Richard Baer’s driveway on Catawba Valley Blvd SE in Brookford. Even trickier noticing that it's there. I missed it the first time around.
"We'll think it's clear and get ready to pull out and it's not. Cars will cross the double lines," said Baer.
The father-of-two says he's worried about his wife and young sons when they drive out.
The police chief says it's dangerous. He recently ticketed a driver going 48 miles an hour in the 35 zone.
"I just want this stuff taken care of. Yeah there are some big trees and it might take a few hundred dollars to cut them down. It's a real problem. Even if it only gives me a hundred feet or a hundred fifty feet of sight, that's tremendous," said Baer.
Fox 46 Charlotte took action to find out who is responsible for the trees and got results to making the corner safer.
Baer's next-door neighbor - the Masonic lodge - says they'll talk about taking down the trees in their next meeting on July 18th.
The Masonic lodge master tells Fox 46 Charlotte that Richard Baer asked them to clear the corner about three years ago. The master says they cut back the brush and never heard back.
Baer says he's been asking for the trees to come down for the past three years.
Also, the Department of Transportation says it will be out this Monday to take a look at the problem, and if they see it's a visibility issue, they'll ask the property owner to cut down the brush and trees, and put in a hidden driveway sign if needed.
We'll stay on top of this to help this family get results.
