NORTH CHARLOTTTE, NC (FOX 46) - Food Lion is getting results for a North Charlotte church after seeing a story right here on FOX 46 Charlotte. Representatives wanted to help after learning someone broke in the Cosmopolitan Community Church six times in October and stole food for the homeless.
"It's just been so overwhelming," said Pastor Irma Gardner.
A new security system, new windows, a transformed pantry, and a replacement door are now part of Cosmopolitan Community Church.
"All of that stuff we were blessed with someone to be able do that for us," said Pastor Gardner.
But the donation with the biggest impact brought Pastor Gardner to tears.
Food Lion is getting results by donating $1,000, or 11,000 meals to the church food pantry.
"For Christmas we thought we weren't going to be able to make it, but god stepped in," said Pastor Gardner.
Back in October, someone broke in to the church six times, stealing food for the homeless and Christmas gifts for children. Food Lion was watching FOX 46 Charlotte that night and immediately reached out to get results.

The donation will fill the food pantry just in time for Christmas.
"I guess this is one of the best Christmas' that I will ever have because those families will be able to eat," said Pastor Gardner.
The "Grinch" who nearly ruined Christmas for those in need is now behind bars. Clyde McClelland faces 20 larceny or breaking and entering charges after a series of North Charlotte break-ins.
Coincidentally, McClelland was caught breaking in to the Food Lion a few blocks away from the church.
