CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - The sights and sounds of a kindergarten classroom are music to Brittany Kennedy’s ears. She’s this week's teacher getting results.
“I definitely was surprised I had no idea so it was a great surprise though,” said Ms. Kennedy.
Ms. Kennedy is a kindergarten teacher at Bruns Academy. She was in the military for seven years, she has twins about to turn one, and a two-year-old at home, but she still manages to treat this classroom full of kids as her very own.
“I love working with young minds who come in as almost blank slates and you build on what they know and don't know and that way they can be successful in the future,” Ms. Kennedy said.
From learning letters and numbers, to understanding valuable lessons for their future, Miss Kennedy makes education entertaining and fun for these kids.
“I try to incorporate technology they love dancing and movement so I incorporate that in math, literacy, we do letters and numbers and dance so lots of movement and music.”
Since she was the age of some of her students, she's known this is what she's always wanted to do.
“I think teaching is a calling and I've known since I was young I wanted to teach I used to pretend teach with Barbies and doll babies and its always something I've wanted to do I knew I was going to be a teacher.”
Her students will be some of the first people to tell you that Ms. Kennedy deserves all the recognition she's receiving.
“Ms. Kennedy is so much to love and I like her when I visit her,” said one student.
“She's a sweet teacher and I love her,” said another.
A passion, serving a purpose, for these children. Ms. Kennedy is a teacher truly getting results for her students.
