Man charged with murder after body discovered in apartment fire

- (UPDATE (12:30 p.m. 6/16/16): Christopher Brandon Washburn, 25, was arrested for the murder of Joseph David Walker and charged with first degree murder and first degree arson, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

Salisbury Fire was called out to Alexander Place Departments at the 600 block of Hamilton Drive in reference to a house fire.

Walker's body was found stabbed inside the home, according to police.

Investigators discovered Walker had recently moved to Salisbury and he and Washburn had known each other in the past.

Washburn was placed in the RC Detention Center under no bond. His first court appearance was set for June 17, 2016.



One person was found dead after Salisbury firefighters extinguished a fire at Alexander Place Apartments around 7 a.m. this morning.

The Salisbury police have identified the victim as 37-year-old Joseph David Walker of 632 Hamilton Dr.

The State Bureau of Investigation and Salisbury Police have ruled the suspicious death a homicide and unrelated to the fire.
