Police: Man charged with murder in north Charlotte fatal shooting

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged Michael Kevin Duncan for the murder of Darian Lavon Curry.

The shooting happened at the Berkeley Place Apartments in the University Area of north Charlotte on Monday night.

Information and evidence gathered led detectives to identifying Duncan as the suspect and discovering the case is drug related.

Duncan was arrested early Tuesday morning.

Police and Medic responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call at the apartment complex just after 7 p.m. on Monday

Two males suffering from gunshot wounds were transported to Carolinas Medical Center in the University area, where Curry later died from his injuries.

CMPD says this is an ongoing investigation.
