CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WJZY) - A 35-year-old man who was shot in south Charlotte died at a Mt. Holly hospital early Sunday morning.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say around 9 p.m. on Saturday, officers located an abandoned vehicle in a Walmart shopping center parking lot, 8180 S. Tryon Street. No victims were to be found.
On Sunday, around 12:30 a.m., the Mount Holly Police Department contacted CMPD about a male victim with gunshot wounds who was dropped off at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Mt. Holly. He has been identified as Rechard Delane Mickle.
Mickle later died at the hospital, according to medical staff. His family has been notified of his death.
Detectives believe Mickle was shot on Tryon Street before he was dropped off at the medical center. They also say this shooting was not a random act of violence.
Police are actively investigating this homicide.
