Three charged after robbery, shooting in Plaza Midwood


Three people have been arrested for their involvement in a robbery, shooting and police chase in Plaza Midwood on Saturday.

Jamall Glenn, 33, Ebonee Ward, 29 and 25-year-old Antonio Worthy all were charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious bodily injury and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, resist, delay and obstruct.

Glenn was additionally charged with two counts of hit-and-run, firearm by felon and filling a false police report.

A male suspect approached two adults, one male and one female, in a shopping center parking lot at 1400 Central Avenue around 11:08 p.m.

The male suspect robbed the pair at gunpoint and then shot them both with a handgun, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

The shooter then got into a car with two other suspects and fled the scene.

During the incident, two off-duty CMPD officers happened to be around the area and heard shots fired. One officer stayed with the victims while the other attempted to stop the suspect vehicle.

The pursuit ended near Presbyterian Hospital when the suspect vehicle hit another car. Two of the suspects came out of the car and fled the scene on foot. The third suspect was caught by police and immediately apprehended.

The victims’ personal items were recovered and a handgun was seized from the suspect vehicle.

Medic transported both people to Carolinas Medical Center.
