Hull of Confederate submarine restored

- The hull of the first submarine in history to sink an enemy warship has been revealed for the first time in 150 years.
Scientists conserving the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley have been using small chisels and dental tools for a year to remove encrusted sand and sediment from the hand-cranked sub.

Now, the hull appears much as it did when the Hunley and its eight-man crew sank a union blockade ship off South Carolina in 1864. Reporters get a look at the submarine on Thursday.

Scientists say they will have to finish work inside of the sub before solving the mystery of why the Hunley sank. The sub was discovered in 1995 and raised and brought to a conservation lab in North Charleston 15 years ago.
