More than 150,000 already without power in NC before Florence makes landfall

- The number of NC residents without power is now over 150,000, according to the Department of Public Safety.

The outages were announced just after 11:00 p.m. on Thursday as Hurricane Florence closed in on the coast.

Power outages, flooding and storm surge were the main concerns for the state as the Cat. 1 storm moved in. Several residents fled the coast under both mandatory and voluntary evacuations.
