ITT Tech to close all campuses after federal aid sanctions

- ITT Technical Institute is officially closing its doors, shutting down all campuses following federal sanctions imposed against the company.

The for-profit college announced the closure in a statement Tuesday:

“It is with profound regret that we must report that ITT Educational Services, Inc. will discontinue academic operations at all of its ITT Technical Institutes permanently after approximately 50 years of continuous service. With what we believe is a complete disregard by the U.S. Department of Education for due process to the company, hundreds of thousands of current students and alumni and more than 8,000 employees will be negatively affected.”

Last week the Department of Education barred the college’s parent company, ITT Educational Services, from enrolling students who used federal financial aid.

A banner appeared on the school’s website stating that they were not enrolling new students.

ITT Educational Services has been the subject of state and federal investigations. This year alone, it has twice been found out of compliance with its accreditor’s standards, according to the Department of Education.

The DOE has provided answers to questions students may have in a blog post. They are also referring current and former students to a Federal Student Aid announcement page.
