CMPD: 1 Dead after shooting at Citgo on South Tryon

A conversation turned deadly at a Citgo in Southwest Charlotte Wednesday, January 28, around 8:00 p.m. An eyewitness to the event said one man went to confront another when a gun was pulled.

The eyewitness said, "A young lady came out of the Bojangles screaming and crying and she said, 'That was my boyfriend, he was just shot.'"

The shooter fled on foot and police are working to locate him.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, but died from his injuries and police have classified the shooting as a homicide.

The eyewitness spoke to a few people in the Citgo who told her they just hit the floor and started scattering when the shooting occurred.

According to the CMPD the victim's identity will be released pending family notification. Detectives are trying to determine whether there are additional witnesses to this incident.
