A Charlotte teenage mother is accused of killing her 3-week-old infant son according to the Charlotte- Mecklenberg Police Department.
Police have arrested 17-year-old Daniela Villarreal early Tuesday morning.
Officials responded to a call in reference that an infant was found unresponsive in the 2200 block of Canterwood Drive about 4:20 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive infant. Medic transported the infant to Carolina Medical Center- University where the baby was pronounced dead.
Villarreal has been charged with murder and felony child abuse. Police tell us the baby was physically assaulted which led to his death. Neighbors who live in the apartment complex tell Fox 46 that they would see a young pregnant woman in and around the complex.
The area has been plagued with crime for some time, but after this happened, neighbors want to make more of an effort to come together as a community and support one another.
