CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) - Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and the FBI are offering upt to $15,000 reward for information on a suspect captured on surveillance video wanted for the murder of an east Charlotte store owner.
Officials said Elchin Khalilov was an innocent victim who came to the United States for a beeter life, but someone shot and killed him inside his cellphone repair store on Jan. 14.
Investigators released surveillance video on Thursday, which they said shows the suspect walking near N. Sharon Amity Road moments before he fired the fatal shot that killed Khalilov at FixER Electronic Repair.
"He was living the American dream," investigators said. "We need to seek justice for the family of Mr. Khalilov."
The suspect was wearing a distinct hoodie with the word "love" written on both sleeves. Anyone who recognizes the man pictured or the clothing is urged to contact Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police or Crimestoppers.
