(FOX 46 WJZY) - It's the season of giving and in that frame of mind, we've rounded up several places around Charlotte where you can donate Thanksgiving dinners for those in need.
Charlotte Rescue Mission: For just $1.97 you can turn hunger into hope this Thanksgiving at the Charlotte Rescue Mission. The non-profit said every $1.97 you give will provide a Thanksgiving meal and extra servings of help and hope. Other events include:
- 3,000 Thanksgiving food boxes will be distributed to thousands of families for the holiday starting on Monday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. Each box will come with a frozen turkey, canned sides, stuffing, rice, gravy, and dessert along with an aluminum roasting pan.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina: Serving North and South Carolina, there are plenty of places to drop off food for Second Harvest. You can check out Second Harvest's online tools and tips for hosting your own food drive here.
Loaves and Fishes: You can honor the special people on your holiday gift list and put groceries into the homes of neighbors with a donation to Loaves & Fishes. Through a network of more than 30 food pantries in Mecklenburg County, families and children receive nutritionally balanced groceries to get them through a short-term crisis. Urban Ministry Center: Drop-off hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday 9 a.m. to noon. For the soup kitchen, most requested items included sandwich bread, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jelly, sliced sandwich meat, sliced cheese, aprons, plastic forks and spoons (no knives), and dish towels. On Christmas day they like to give each person new socks, hats & gloves to stay warm. Still needed: 250 drawstring backpack bags, 150 pairs white adult crew socks, 150 pairs adult gloves, 250 adult toboggans. Email Trish Fries to arrange your donation.
$10 gift cards to Walmart, Target, Family Dollar, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Bojangles, McDonald’s will help clients in Street Outreach, Scattered Site, or SABER programs to purchase what they actually need or want. . . a special brand of soap, a Christmas treat for a friend, minutes on their phone, a favorite meal, whatever their heart’s desire! – email Trish Fries
