'Stay alert': Black bear sighting in Huntersville

- The Huntersville Police Department is warning residents to stay alert after a black bear was spotted Thursday morning in the area.

Officers said the bear was spotted in the area of Northcross Drive and Bridgeford Lane. 

"Please make sure all trash is away and pet food is not left outside. Please DO NOT approach the bear," Huntersville Police tweeted. 

Less than 24 hours earlier, a bear was spotted by resident Sandra Tuck as she was driving down Kennewick Road in northwest Charlotte.
