CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A teenager was killed and his father was left with life-threatening injuries following a serious crash in southwest Charlotte.
Around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Medic was called to a scene on I-77 at Westinghouse Blvd. for a car accident.
The driver, Richard Freeman, 46, was driving with his 17-year-old son Justice when the accident happened.
Justice was pronounced dead at the scene. Richard was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in critical condition. Investigators say both father and son were wearing seat belts.
State Highway Patrol is now investigating the crash, which had both sides of I-77 slowed down near Carowinds as each side had lanes shutdown.
