Man charged after woman shot near Uptown

- One person has been arrested and charged after a woman was shot just outside of Uptown. 

Police say the 19-year-old woman was found with one gunshot wound in the 1300 block of Fontana Avenue around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18. She had non-life threatening injuries, and was taken to CMC for treatment. 

Shortly after the shooting, CMPD officers found the suspect, Dondrae Lamar Stewart, 26, on Oaklawn Avenue and he was arrested without incident. 

Stewart has been charged with six counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling, one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The firearm was recovered during this investigation.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting.  At this time, they are still working to determine a motive.
