Police: 1 man killed in Gastonia crash

- The driver of a car was traveling southbound on Highway 321 Thursday, June 2, when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle, killing one person.

According to the Gastonia Fire Dept., Joseph Robert Bazzle, 43, was driving a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage heading south on north Chester Street when he crossed the center line and went head on with a 2015 Hyundai Sonata driven by Kevin Walters, 54. Bazzle was pronounced dead on scene. 

Bazzle was speeding and not wearing a seatbelt, according to Gastonia Police.

It's unknown if there were any medical reasons or impairing substances that may have been contributing. 

Walters was transported to Caromount Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries

The Gaston City Police Department is investigating this crash.
