Police: Three charged in assault, attempted robbery in Huntersville

- The Huntersville Police Department says three people are facing charges after the group attempted to rob another man and shot at him. 

The incident occurred at 12:26 a.m. Sunday, January 24 at the Wells Fargo Bank at 16700 Statesville Road. 

Officers say the victim had agreed to meet up with a person to purchase a Xbox. The transaction was set up using a mobile phone app called OfferUp.

The victim arrived at the set location and was met by three men in a silver 1990s model Nissan Altima. The driver shot at the victim and all three suspects left in the vehicle. Police were not able to locate the vehicle or the three men on scene.

More than one month later, police say on Monday, February 29 the Huntersville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant on Varsity Ln. in Charlotte.

Arrest warrant were obtained for the three men.

Sheldon Darnell Williams, 20, is wanted for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Antwan Dwayne Monk, 24, is wanted for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon.

Anthony Montrell Funderburk, 19, is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury with Intent to Kill, Attempted Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon. 

Funderburk is currently in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
