School psychologist arrested for assault of 14-year-old student

The Monroe Police Department arrested a middle school psychologist after the man reportedly assaulted a 14-year-old student.

Officers said at 12:35 p.m., March 3 they responded to the report of an assault at Monroe Middle School.

Upon arrival, police were told a 14-year-old student was assaulted by a staff member. After a thorough investigation by the Police Department, Union County Public Schools, and the Union County District Attorney’s Office, a warrant was issued for Dayle Kimball Rust, II, 53, for simple assault. 

Rust, a school psychologist with the Union County Public School System, turned himself in once he learned there were charges pending.

Rust has a court date set for April 6, 2016.
