Police investigate 4 reported shootings in the Charlotte area, 5 hurt

- There were four reported shootings in the Charlotte area Tuesday evening, according to CMPD.

Police said at 4:34 p.m. Tuesday, they responded to the 5600 block of Brookshire Blvd. Upon arrival, they located one person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  

Medic transported the person to CMC for treatment. Sean Rutherford, 17, was detained by officers on scene and charged with possession of stolen firearm, possession of handgun by a minor and a drug charge.

Officers said the victim on McGinn Grove was injured by shattering glass when the vehicle was shot into when they were at the location on Brookshire.

At 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, officers also responded to the 6200 block of The Plaza. Upon arrival, two people were found with gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 

The fourth shooting happened late Tuesday night around 8:30 p.m. on Barrington Drive. One person was transported to CMC for treatment with potentially life threatening injuries.

CMPD said these investigations are still active and ongoing. They do not appear to be related at this time.
