Officials: Man arrested after firing rifle into NC Highway Patrol Trooper's home

- A man has been arrested after firing a rifle into an NC Highway Patrol Trooper's home, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office.

Ethan Young, 21, has been charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and felony discharging a weapon into an occupied residence or vehicle.

Thursday night Young is said to have been firing a rifle off Damascus Church Road in Hiddenite. A neighbor approached him complaining that some of the bullets were landing close to his residence, according to officers.

Officers say the two men got in a fight and the neighbor got the rifle from Young. Young brought out another weapon and began following the neighbor in a vehicle. Young allegedly fire multiple shots at the vehicle the neighbor was in.

An off-duty officer responded to the scene and took Young into custody.
