Matthews board vote in favor of neighborhood schools resolution

The resolution passed on Monday, states that the town is strongly encouraging CMS to support local neighborhood schools.

It also approves the creation of a task force to investigate all options to provide the best education for Matthew’s students.

Board members say those options could include creating their own school system.

With the passing of this resolution, Matthew’s mayor, Jim Taylor, says the board of commissioners can work with the North Carolina General Assembly to seek the authority to create a Matthew’s School District.
