Concord Police investigating homicide

Concord Police are investigating a shooting that happened Monday night, killing one and injuring two others.

Concord Police received a call around 7:55 p.m. in reference to gun shots being fired and a large crow running from the area of Griffin Circle in Concord.

When officers arrived they found Columbus Simmons with a gunshot wound. 

He later died at CMC-Northeast, according to police.

After investigating officers say there were two others shot who sustained non-life threatening injuries during the fight.

Their names have not yet been released. The police chief believes this was not a random act and the suspect knew the victims.

The investigation is ongoing.
