Officials investigating double homicide at Claremont home

- A suspected killer is on the loose after a couple was found dead in their home in Claremont. The couple is identified as Mark Wilson and Deidra Ramseur.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office tells FOX46 they are treating this as a double homicide. It happened on Rest Home Road. The sheriff’s office responded to the scene Monday at 7 p.m.

Damion Lineberger shared a photo of the couple with us. Mark Wilson was his cousin. He says the couple leaves behind a 10 year-old girl who was not home at the time.

"Mark was the type of person that would never hurt anybody. And any family member can tell you that,” Lineberger said.

Investigators tell fox46 the killer or killers forced their way in. They also say it was a family member who actually found the victims inside.

We talked to Captain Brian Kelly about how often crimes happen along that road.

"It's uncommon on this road. Anything like this. We don't respond to a lot of calls on this road. I know the neighbors are very concerned,” Cpt. Kelly said.

Throughout the day, the sheriff's office collected evidence from inside and out the home. They even went through the three cars parked outside.

"I think whoever did this needs to rot in jail or prison,” neighbor Jonathan Miller said.

The family says the couple has been renting this home for about a year now and that they're originally from Claremont.

This is still an on-going investigation. Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
