CMPD make arrest in Uptown Charlotte shooting

- One person is hospitalized and another in custody following a shooting in Uptown Charlotte Wednesday afternoon. 

The incident happened at 3:36 p.m. Wednesday, March 16 in the 100 block of S. Brevard Street in the Central Division. 

Dajour Smith, 19, is charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Resisting Arrest.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call. 

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying in a parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The man was taken to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment. 

At this time, officers said it appears the subjects knew one another, and this was not a random act of violence. 

Detectives with the Homicide/ADW Unit said they're canvassing the area to determine whether there are any additional witnesses to this incident. 

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
