CMPD investigating attempted robberies at gun stores

- Two local gun stores are on high alert after two attempted break-ins overnight in Charlotte. Police are looking to see if both cases are related.

CMPD says The Gun Outlet, located on North Tryon Street was hit around 2am Wednesday. The suspect used a stolen car to smash into the building.

An hour later, the Hyatt Gun store was rammed into from the back of the building. Owner Larry Hyatt says they didn't gain entry and he's glad the suspects left empty-handed.

“We're always on guard. We spend a lot of time and a lot of money fortifying our stores. Making sure it's very difficult to break in,” he said.

Cmpd says nothing appears to have been taken from both businesses, but they're on high alert trying to see if there are any connections.

No suspects have been charged and both incidents are under investigation. Surveillance video from Hyatt gun shop is being reviewed by police.  We'll have access to that as soon as the store owner makes it public.

No suspects have been charged, both incident are under investigation. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
