McCrory proposes budget priorities to support families, vulnerable citizens

- Governor Pat McCrory unveiled part of the state budget he plans to present to the General Assembly later this month.

Speaking in Raleigh Monday he said he will ask lawmakers for more money for substance abuse treatment, caring for those with Alzheimer's disease, and combating the Zika virus.

“As governor, I believe we have an obligation to support people who need assistance to reach their full potential,” said Governor McCrory in a written statement, released on Monday. “Through my budget, we will continue to fulfill this obligation by supporting families caring for aging parents, children with disabilities and those living with mental illness and substance use disorders.”

The governor plans to put a complete budget package in the hands of lawmakers before they return to session on April 25.
