A 9-year-old boy is in the hospital after police say he was attacked by two dogs.
The incident happened at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10 near Cherrycrest Lane in Charlotte.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control Division, the young boy had been playing in a nearby wooded path near Archdale Neighborhood Park when he was attacked by the dogs.
The boy was transported to CMC with serious injuries.
The dogs that were involved in the attack were located and impounded by CMPD Animal Care & Control Officers and taken to the CMPD Animal Care & Control Shelter.
Police said one dog is a 3-year-old Pit bull mix and the other is a 6-year-old Pit bull mix. Both are being held for the state required 10-day rabies quarantine and then will be held pending investigation.
Neither dog was up to date on their rabies vaccinations, according to officials. Each dog will be assessed individually after the quarantine period is over.
This is an ongoing, active investigation.
