Equipment stolen from Carolina Ski Show Team

- A trailer full of more than $20,000 worth of equipment disappears, leaving a local water ski show team empty handed ahead of their 30th performing season.

The Carolina Show Ski Team was gearing up this past weekend for their first practice, when they realized their trailer, which was parked at a Mini Warehouse storage facility in Fort Mill, was gone.

Though the team doesn't know when, the trailer had apparently been stolen along with all of their gear inside of it.

Members say all of the stolen items are significant to the team, but likely worthless to anyone else.

“Odds are they're not going to know what they have, nor what they could do with it,” said Cara Ancevic, a spokeswoman for the team. “They could sell it, but I don't even think they could market it in the way that it would be best suited.”

Stolen items include the team's show boards, which they had just had refinished in November, and dozens of custom ropes, harnesses and costumes.

The team is a non-profit and actively holds fundraisers for various community organizations throughout each year. They’re now hoping the community comes through for them.
