Police: Attempted abduction of two boys in Fort Mill made up

- The attempted kidnapping of two young boys in Fort Mill last week was made up, according to York County Sheriff's Office Detectives.

Detectives found out the boys made up the story in order to skip school for the day.

The 7 and 10-year-old claimed to be on their way to school Monday morning, April 11, when the 10-year-old told authorities a man came out of the woods and threatened them with a knife (multi-tool). The boys ran back home.

Detectives say the multi-tool detectives found on the scene was found earlier by the boys.

The sheriff's office said this case should also be made into a good lesson for parents and children. The national Center for Missing Exploited Children has helpful information, here.
