CMPD: Speed a factor in Steele Creek Road fatal accident

- A deadly accident occurred early Monday morning in southwest Charlotte, according to Medic.

Officers responded to the 15200 block of Steele Creek Rd. in reference to a two-vehicle crash involving a passenger car and a tractor-trailer truck.

Todd Greene was operating a 2001 Honda Accord northbound when his vehicle crossed the double yellow lane divider and hit the tractor-trailer head on.

Greene was pronounced dead on scene.

The driver of the truck, Michael Allen, was taken to CMC with minor injuries.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to CMPD, but speed does for the Honda Accord.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene and conducted the investigation.  Any person who witnessed the crash or has information about the case is asked to call Detective S. Williams 704-432-2169 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
