CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - There was more headaches this week along Independence Boulevard. This time is was caused by Mother Nature, standing water and lane closures.
Tuesday evening was running a lot smoother along a particular stretch of Independence Blvd. compared to the early morning when standing water closed down two lanes of traffic.
NCDOT said the flooding was a result of construction crews connecting new storm drains.
Crews worked throughout the day to finish the storm drain work in the hopes of getting it done before more storms rolled through.
Drivers told FOX 46 Charlotte the flooding Tuesday morning combined with the construction created a list of other problems too.
"A lot of flat tires. Obviously I got a flat tire a couple of weeks ago just because of the construction debris that was left on the ground," Tamara Law said.
NCDOT has not given an update on if this project will finish on schedule.
