Charlotte's men in blue help new mom deliver baby on the side of the road

- Charlotte's men in blue who take a vow to protect and serve became 'delivery men' for a brief period of time, helping a new mom deliver her baby on the side of the road.

The two officers were called into action last Saturday on Interstate-77.

Taylor Johnson was on her way to the hospital but not expecting to go into labor when she did - early.

It was her mom who flagged down the officer who were there responding to a nearby wreck.

Turns out, one was a rookie only about a month into the job, left dealing with all sorts of emotions.

"Excited and a little anxious, a little fearful cause bringing a life into this world is a big deal, and only have five weeks on, wasn't sure if I was ready for that," Officer Kevin Jackson explained.

"I don't know what I would have done if they weren't there to help me there, and even calm my mom down and help her out," Taylor Jackson, new mom, said.

"Sometimes it's good for the guys that have been around a while having the new guys come in with some of the enemy, and the positives, and I was real proud the way he handled himself there," Officer Mike Casey said.

Little Aria was born a couple weeks premature; she wasn't expected until May 15. But mom and baby are both doing great, thanks to the help of the officers.
