Pineville man says fallen fighter saved his dog Barney

A Pineville man is sharing his story of how he was helped by firefighter Richard Sheltra.

Ronald Rogers said just a couple of weeks ago his dog, a beagle name Barney, was hit by a car on Main Street in Pineville.

Rogers said Sheltra and some other firefighters came to the rescue and helped comfort his dog until he could get there and take his pet home.

"They had my dog comforted with a blanket and everything to keep him from going into shock...so I feel like Richard saved one life before his life was lost and I really appreciate what he's done," Ronald Rogers said.

Barney is recovering just fine.

Rogers believes had the firefighters not been there, Barney may not be with him today.
