CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) - A 14-year-old girl has been charged for her involvement in a car robbery, but the victim told FOX 46 that she wasn’t the only teen involved in the crime.
35-year-old Indra Pradhan doesn't speak English, but her relatives say what happened to her Wednesday afternoon was extremely frightening.
"She was very scared, she shouted for help a lot," Indra's nephew Ujwal Pradhan said. He translated for her.
Pradhan was stopping her car at this intersection in a residential area at Knickerbocker Dr. and Knell Dr.
"That's when five of those kids they stopped her car saying something was behind her car," Ujwal said.
The five teens then surrounded her vehicle, blocked her from being able to drive away, pulled her out of the car, got inside and took off.
"That's never happened in this area before," said Ujwal.
Indra says she’s had never seen any of the suspects before.
Now, Indra is being a little more vigilant, taking extra precautions to make sure this doesn't happen to her again.
"She said since the incident has happened she's scared now and locked her home."
Officers were able to arrest one of the teens in the area not long after the incident. The 14-year-old girl was transported to the Cabarrus County Juvenile Detention Center, and faces multiple charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, common law robbery, and kidnapping.
Officials say this is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with additional information should call the crime stoppers tip line at 704-334-1600.
