CHARLOTTE, NC (WJZY) - An intense fire Monday afternoon in northwest Charlotte sent flames shooting into the sky.
The fire started around 3:30 p.m. Monday, May 16 at a home along Hudson Graham Lane.
Fire officials said one home is destroyed, barely recognizable, and two others have damage from melted siding.
Neighbors told FOX 46 Charlotte everyone inside the damaged homes were able to make it out safely. One neighbor said she was on her front porch when she saw smoke coming from the nearby house.
She said within minutes the home was engulfed in flames. She ran inside to call 911, and said she ran into some problems.
"I saw small flames and then I dialed 911 and it took me a minute before they actually answered, and then I found out we are on some kind of county-line and transferred me and put me on hold, and then transferred me," Coretta Harris said.
Harris said despite the delay in the 911 call, firefighters still arrived within minutes.
