ROWAN CO., NC (WJZY) - The Rowan County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide after a man was found stabbed to death.
The sheriff's office was called out to a stabbing incident before midnight on Monday, May 16 along the 150 block of Cone Drive in Woodleaf.
Deputies said they found one victim, Barry Dean Helper, 56, AKA "Mater," lying on the living room floor dead inside the mobile park home.
Investigators discovered Barry lived down the street and Paul Dean Helper, the father of the victim, lived at the home deputies were called out to.
Deputies found out that the initial stabbing happened at Barry's home and he made his way to his father's home.
Deputies discovered a blood trail and found the front door and screen door open at Barry's home. Deputies found no one else inside but they did find a blood on the floor and on several chairs in the living room.
Investigators discovered that Satonia Yvette Gray, 25, who sometimes stayed at Barry's, got into an argument with him that led to Gray stabbing Barry multiple times.
Investigators believe there was no romantic relationship between Gray and Barry.
Police said Gray ran off after the stabbing and Barry made his way to his father's.
Witnesses told police Gray was seen in the mobile home park with a knife before leaving the scene.
A warrant for murder was obtained for Gray. Rowan County Sheriff's Office contacted Davie County Sheriff's Office and found Gray's vehicle at an apartment complex in Mocksville.
Gray was arrested at the apartment complex still wearing bloody clothing.
She was taken to the Rowan County Detention Center and held without bond.
Her first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18 at 9 a.m.
